CFG contributor Kevin Mount takes a look at a six pack of bowl games that should be fantasy gems.
The tree is decorated, the presents are wrapped, the mistletoe is hung, and most importantly the magical Bowl season is here for our enjoyment. The next month promises to be full of crazy games, exciting finishes, and huge fantasy performances. From a fantasy perspective, some of these bowl games look to be absolute gems. Here are some games that should fill up the stat sheet and leave fantasy owners with tremendous holiday spirit.
The defense will be optional in this match up. The Wolf Pack will have no problem running through the SMU defense, while the Mustangs should be able to throw the ball against an abysmal Nevada pass defense. Expect huge games from Colin Kaepernick and Vai Tua for Nevada and Kyle Padron, Shawnbrey McNeal, and Emmanuel Sanders for Southern Methodist.
The points should be a plenty in this one. The passing games of both teams should move the ball up and down the field all night long. The QB-RB combos of Tyler Sheehan/Freddie Barnes and Nathan Enderle and Max Komar should have the largest fantasy impact.
The final game for Dan LeFevour could prove to be a wild one as the Chippewa’s face a potent Troy team. The Trojans will lean heavily on quarterback, Levi Brown and wide receiver, Jerrel Jernigan. The duo of Dan Lefevour and Antonio Brown should post huge numbers an atrocious pass defense from Troy which ranks 117th in the country.
This is a battle of two teams who are playing very well right now and who have some very talented offensive weapons. The Cougars will rely on their three fantasy stars QB Max Hall, RB Harvey Unga, and TE Dennis Pita to keep pace with Oregon State. The Beavers also sport a three-headed monster lead by RB Jacquizz Rodgers, WR James Rodgers, and QB Sean Canfield. This one should be fun!
Expect an aerial display of epic proportions as both pass defenses rank below 100th in the country. The Razorbacks will get a huge game from QB Ryan Mallett and WR Greg Childs. The fantasy factors for the Pirates will be QB Patrick Pinkney, RB Dominique Lindsay, and WR Dwayne Harris.
The red hot Blue Raiders will take their six game winning streak to the Big Easy to take on a good Golden Eagles club. Both teams feature high-powered offenses so this game should be fun. The fantasy stars that should have big games for Southern Miss are Martevious Young, Damion Fletcher, and DeAndre Brown. For Middle Tennesse expect Dwight Dasher to have a monster game as the offense will run through him on almost every play.
